Key Terms
This page lists the words and phrases you will see most often in eVault. You can refer back to this page any time you encounter unfamiliar terminology.
| Term | What it means |

| Organization | An organization is your company's account in eVault. Everything you see in the platform belongs to your organization. |
| Vault | A vault is a secure storage area within your organization. A vault works like a filing cabinet, and your organization can have more than one vault. |
| Package | A package is a bundle of related documents stored together, similar to a loan file folder. After a document is added to a package, it can never be removed or changed. |
| Authoritative copy | The authoritative copy is the single, cryptographically verified, tamper-proof version of your signed document. You never see it directly. |
| Audit trail | An audit trail is a complete, immutable record of everything that has happened to a package. Admissible as legal evidence. |
| Workflow | A saved grouping of packages, similar to a label or tag. A single package can belong to multiple workflows at the same time. |
| Certified print | An officially stamped copy of your document plus its full audit trail. Does not remove the original. |
| Paper-out | Permanently removes a package from eVault and gives you the original document, audit trail, and tamper-check hash. |
| Release request | A request you submit to Concord to extract a package from eVault. |
| Transfer | Moves a package from one vault to another. Both sides must agree via a transfer agreement first. |
| Transfer agreement | A formal partnership between two vaults that allows packages to be sent between them. |
| Folder | A way to organize packages inside your vault. |
| Attachment | A supporting file added to a package. Unlike main documents, attachments can be deleted later. |
| Custom fields | Extra metadata tags on a package. Your administrator sets these up. |
| Bookmark | A personal shortcut to a package. Private to you. |
| Draft package | A package being prepared but not yet finalized. You can still cancel it. |
| Rescind | To destroy a package so it can be re-signed and re-uploaded. |
| Watermark | A stamp or text overlay that appears on documents when you download them. |
| Data import | A bulk load of packages into eVault. Import batches appear as dated folders. |
| UETA | Uniform Electronic Transactions Act. A US state law giving electronic records the same legal effect as paper. |
| ESIGN | Electronic Signatures in Global and National Commerce Act. US federal law recognizing electronic signatures as legally valid. |
| UCC 9-105 | Article 9, Section 105 of the Uniform Commercial Code. Sets the standard for control of a transferable electronic record. |
